I've studied Coastal Engineering at TU Delft in the Netherlands, where I also did my PhD on coastal hazards (flooding and erosion) to sea turtle nesting beaches around the world, working at the interface of coastal engineering and ecology. In 2026, I've started my Postdoc at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM) of the Spanish national research council (CSIC) in Barcelona, as part of the Coastal and Ocean Collective.
My current research focuses on exploring AI and deep learning methods to predict coastal evolution, from shoreline change to 3D bathymmetries. I'm still interested in linking coastal engineering and ecology and always open to collaborations. Throughout my research, I use a combination of field data, remote sensing tools, deep learning, and numerical modeling.
Outside of research I also like to spend much of my time on the beach or in the water, especially surfing. I also like to be in the mountains, hiking or skiing. Together with my wife, we built our own Campervan, in which we often explore the European coasts and mountains.
