We had to start with this one. There's a zillion versions of this tune but my suggestion is for this version with Jobim and Hancock sharing the piano duties:
A whole album broadly dedicated to "crosscurrents" by the great pianist Bill Evans with his trio and Konitz/Marsh on saxophone.
This was an inevitable one.
Plenty of versions for this standard but here is one of my favourite Chet Baker's formats:
Wonderful piano solo.
David Binney is a spectacular saxophone player and has an entire album entitled "oceanos". Definitely one of us.
An incredible "free" album by a great composer/ saxophone & piano player. The last of the tunes in the cd is appropriately entitled "Surge"
Fantastic trumpet player/composer leading a stellar band. The tune "Coastline" is part the cd "Trip". Enjoy, this music is amazing.
Mike Nock is a composer/pianist from our very own NZ! He has played in New York with a lot of big names in the jazz scene and in this cd he is at his best.
A legendary concert. I am not particularly fond of it but with that title ...
Thanks to Ian Townend for providing thsi amazing cd which also includes the tune "currents".
This tune is one of my favourite from Neil Young.
A flamenco masterpiece: "entre dos aguas"
Pretty crazy sounds but then again ... it's turbulence!
